About the role

We’re hiring a hands-on CAD and engineering design expert to help our foundation model master practical engineering workflows. You’ll own model proficiency in a defined capability, such as designing manufacturable assemblies, modifying designs while preserving engineering intent, or preparing geometry for simulation. Working with dedicated model and infrastructure partners, you’ll define success, teach the model, and drive measurable improvement.

What you’ll do

• Define the use cases, workflows, engineering decisions, and failure modes the model must master within your area of expertise

• Build end-to-end evaluations and rubrics covering geometric correctness, design intent, engineering constraints, and workflow completion. Deliver one new, high-quality case each week after establishing the initial tooling

• Use the model on realistic CAD tasks, personally create challenging demonstrations and annotated teaching examples from its failures, and work with researchers on training experiments and evaluation of improvements

• Co-develop reusable prompts and tools to capture expert work, scale evaluations and teaching data, and integrate them into model development

• Own domain-specific quality standards, guide a small team of contributors, and review internally and externally produced examples

What we’re looking for

• Deep, current experience creating, editing, and reviewing CAD for real engineering work using Siemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, or comparable systems

• Strong expertise in at least one area such as mechanical design, design for manufacturing, CAD/CAM, or geometry preparation for simulation, with practical judgment about engineering constraints and tradeoffs

• Ability to explain engineering decisions, recognize subtle errors in designs and model behavior, and translate expert judgment into clear teaching examples and assessments

• Enthusiasm for teaching AI through detailed example creation and review, with independent technical judgment and openness to learning new methods

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD automation, scripting, APIs, integrations, or geometry software development

• Experience owning CAD assemblies from design through mass production of finished product, maintaining and updating designs as necessary, issuing and tracking Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Bill of Materials (BOM), etc.

• Experience teaching or leading a small technical team

Prior model training or AI experience is welcome but not required.
