Workday Financials Functional Analyst

The Opportunity:

ApplyBoard is seeking a Workday Financials Functional Analyst to help support one of our school partners in Florida. This role will be part of our Finance team and own how financial operations run within Workday for one of our school partners.

This role will partner closely with Finance leadership and operational teams, translating business needs into scalable, compliant system configurations. You will ensure data integrity, enforce controls, and continuously improve how financial processes operate.

What You’ll Be Doing Every Day:

Foundation Data Model and financial accounting (record-to-report)

• Foundation Data Model governance: ledgers, cost centers, worktags, and accounting structures

• Journal sources, accounting rules, period close, and consolidation support

• Business Process Framework: routing, approvals, conditions, and validations across financial events

Procure-to-pay and supplier management

• Requisitions, purchase orders, supplier invoices, supplier accounts and settlement

• Spend authorization, approval hierarchies and Delegation of Authority enforcement

Expenses

• Expense business processes, policy configuration, and corporate card integrations

Business assets

• Asset lifecycle: acquisition, depreciation, transfers, and disposals, with reconciliation to the general ledger

Projects, customer accounts, and billing (as applicable)

• Project costing and billing, including grant and sponsored-project tracking where relevant

• Customer invoices, customer payments and related revenue processes

Banking and settlement

• Bank account configuration, payment runs, and settlement processes, coordinated with banking integrations

Reporting, analytics, and governance

• Build financial reports, calculated fields, and dashboards for Finance and leadership

• Stand up reconciliation and audit-readiness reporting, with SOX control support and Delegation of Authority validation

• Own role-based security and segregation of duties for Finance, partnering with IT on access and compliance

• Protect data quality through EIB and Core Connector loads, Foundation Data Model integrity, and reconciliation work

Release readiness and continuous improvement

• Own bi-annual Workday release readiness for Financials: regression testing, impact assessment, and feature adoption

• Maintain configuration documentation, quick reference guides, and training for finance users

• Run a prioritized continuous-improvement backlog tied to Finance priorities

What You Bring to the Table:

• 5+ years of hands-on Workday Financials with direct ownership of business process configuration

• A strong accounting and finance foundation, including GAAP, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls

• Hands-on configuration of the Foundation Data Model and Financial Accounting, plus two or more of: Procure-to-Pay, Expenses, Business Assets, Projects, and Banking and Settlement

• Reporting depth across financial custom reports and calculated fields

• Strong stakeholder partnering and requirements facilitation with finance owners

• Working command of Workday security and the bi-annual release and regression cycle

Preferred

• Workday Financials certifications such as Financial Accounting, Procure-to-Pay, Business Assets, and Projects

• An accounting credential or degree, such as a CPA or an accounting or finance degree

• Higher education experience, including fund and grant accounting, sponsored projects, and restricted funds

• SOX, external audit, and Delegation of Authority experience

• EIBs and Core Connectors and integration data validation experience
