About the Role

Pursuit is hiring a Support Coach to drive Builder persistence — making sure the real-life barriers Builders face, from onboarding all the way through job placement, don't stand between them and a career.

A Builder's ability to stay in the program and finish isn't just about their willpower — it's about whether they can afford transportation this week, who's watching their kids during class, whether a health issue derails their momentum, or whether financial hardship makes it hard to keep showing up. It's also about what's happening internally: whether a Builder has started to doubt they belong here, or lost the confidence to keep going. You'll get to know each Builder well enough to see both kinds of barriers coming — practical and personal — and you'll do something about it: connecting them to the right resource or partner, or simply being the steady person in their corner who helps them believe they can finish.

Reporting directly to the COO, you'll also build Pursuit's bench of external partnerships and resources over time, and build the tools that help Builders find and use that support themselves.

Key Responsibilities

• Own Builder persistence as your core outcome, staying connected to each Builder's situation from onboarding through job placement
• Proactively identify barriers to persistence — financial hardship, transportation, childcare, health, or other life circumstances — through regular check-ins and close attention to early warning signs
• Be a steady, encouraging presence for Builders working through internal barriers — confidence, self-doubt, imposter syndrome — not just practical ones
• Connect Builders directly to the resources and partners that address those barriers, from public benefits and emergency assistance to childcare and transportation support
• Build and continuously expand Pursuit's bench of external partnerships and resources, going out and finding new ones rather than waiting for gaps to surface
• Use AI tools to build lightweight tools that help Builders navigate available resources themselves, not just through you
• Partner closely with Instructors and Career Coaches to flag Builders who need support and coordinate a plan across the team
• Track patterns in the barriers Builders face and bring them back to leadership to inform how Pursuit designs the program

About You

• 3-5+ years in social work, case management, community health, benefits navigation, or another barrier-focused support role
• Deep knowledge of — or a fast ability to learn — the public benefits, financial assistance, and community resources available to New Yorkers facing economic hardship
• A resourceful problem-solver who doesn't stop at the first no when trying to get a Builder what they need
• Comfortable holding a caseload of Builders at different stages, from onboarding through placement, without losing track of anyone
• A trusted, empathetic presence Builders feel comfortable being honest with about what's actually going on in their lives
• Curious about AI and excited to build tools that make navigating resources easier for Builders and for yourself
• Mission-Driven: You care deeply about equity, tech access, and expanding opportunity for underrepresented communities.

Where You'll Work

Hybrid: Tuesday–Thursday on-site in Long Island City, with a Monday and Friday work-from-anywhere policy.

Salary & Benefits

The expected salary range for this role is $75,000–$80,000 base.

The compensation range above reflects the expectations laid out in this job description; however, we're often open to a wide variety of profiles and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than posted. If that's the case, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.
