Solutions Engineer – Technical Consulting

Smartly is looking for a Solutions Engineer to join our Technical Consulting team in Mexico City. In this role, you’ll combine strong software development skills with customer-facing technical expertise to solve complex challenges for enterprise customers and agency partners. You’ll design and build integrations, tooling, and custom solutions that connect customer systems with the Smartly platform, working directly with customer technical teams to understand their needs and turn them into scalable technical solutions.
Internally you’ll work closely with our product and engineering teams, serving as a technical bridge between our customers and Smartly’s technology.

What You Will Do

• Work directly with enterprise customers and agency partners to understand complex technical requirements, design solutions, and guide implementations from discovery through deployment.
• Design, build, test, and maintain solutions using Python and/or JavaScript, APIs, and cloud technologies to address customer integration and workflow needs.
• Translate customer business and technical requirements into working solutions, including API integrations, workflow automation, reporting, DAM, and data connectivity.
• Develop backend services, scripts, automation, and data-processing workflows that extend the capabilities of the Smartly platform and solve customer-specific technical challenges.
• Own technical solutions throughout their lifecycle, including solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, debugging, documentation, and ongoing maintenance.
• Develop and improve Technical Consulting-owned applications and tooling that enable the team to solve customer problems more efficiently and at scale.
• Improve the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of existing customer solutions by refactoring code, reducing technical debt, and modernizing legacy implementations.
• Work with cloud and deployment technologies including AWS, Kubernetes, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized applications to deploy and operate Technical Consulting solutions.
• Contribute to engineering best practices through code reviews, testing, documentation, monitoring, and operational improvements.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for complex customer implementations, investigating issues across application code, APIs, integrations, infrastructure, and customer systems.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to identify recurring customer needs, develop tactical solutions, and help inform longer-term platform capabilities.

What We Are Looking For

• 2+ years of professional programming experience using Python and/or JavaScript, with experience building and maintaining production-quality solutions.
• Experience in solutions engineering, software engineering, technical consulting, or another role combining hands-on software development with technical problem-solving.
• Experience working directly with customers or cross-functional stakeholders to gather technical requirements, design solutions, and guide implementations.
• Experience designing and building APIs, system integrations, backend services, automation, or cloud-based applications.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, with the ability to write maintainable, testable, and production-quality code.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including the ability to diagnose issues across code, APIs, integrations, infrastructure, and third-party systems.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, tradeoffs, and solution designs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to navigate technical ambiguity and balance customer requirements, implementation complexity, scalability, and maintainability.
• Experience supporting enterprise software implementations, integrations, or technical consulting engagements.
