Position Summary:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Java Developer to join the Private Bank Trading Technology team. The Private Bank Trading space offers a unique opportunity to work on a mission-critical platform that supports key trading functions for the firm's Private Bank business. The platform is undergoing significant transformation, including a large-scale Charles River Cloud Migration and modernization journey, providing extensive opportunities to influence architecture, technology direction, and business outcomes.

This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can independently drive solution design, collaborate effectively with Information Security, Network Engineering, Infrastructure, and external vendor teams, and operate with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on high-impact initiatives that shape the future state of a business-critical trading platform while leveraging modern cloud-native technologies and engineering practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Java and related technologies.
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and production support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration, and production issues.
• Develop and support REST APIs, batch processing, and event-driven integrations.
• Collaborate closely with Information Security, Network Engineering, Infrastructure, Architecture, and vendor teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Contribute to cloud migration and application modernization initiatives.
• Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, resiliency, performance, and operational supportability.
• Perform code reviews and promote engineering best practices across the team.
• Support release activities and provide production support for critical trading applications.
• Participate in root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for recurring issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation as required.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and enterprise application development.
• Experience building and supporting distributed applications and APIs.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL development.
• Experience troubleshooting complex production issues in enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, and software delivery practices.
• Experience working in Linux and distributed computing environments.
• Experience in messaging technologies and event-driven architectures.
• Ability to independently own and deliver complex technical work with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms and container technologies such as OpenShift or Kubernetes.
• Experience supporting cloud migration or application modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies and event-driven architectures.

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$102,900.00 - $179,900.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
