Software Development Engineer III - Platform

In this role you will contribute to a critical and highly-visible function within the Esper business. You will be given the opportunity to autonomously deliver the technical direction of the service, and the feature roadmap. What you’ll do

• Improve Esper Platform by planning, recommending and executing strategic projects.
• Use metrics and data to provide insights on customer usage, bottlenecks, future requirements, security and scalability of the platform.

• Create standards, guidelines, sample projects, demos to influence engineering teams to write stable, secure, maintainable and quality code.

• Use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to solve critical business issues and improve SLO, reduce MTTR.
• Work with distributed teams to drive changes, write RCAs and coordinate resolution for production incidents.
• Objectively assess new technologies, tools, frameworks and design patterns for adoption into Esper Platform.
• Become the Subject Matter Expert(SME) for the Platform team.

What we’re looking for

• 6+ YoE (6-8 YoE).
• Hands on experience in building and managing cloud systems on one or more cloud providers - AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Hands on knowledge of scripting or any modern programming languages.
• Experience in developing and deploying on UNIX/Linux based systems.
• Hands-on experience in microservices and container technologies.
• Understanding of best practices for implementing IAC, automation and CI/CD workflows.
• Hands-on experience with managing highly scalable web systems and troubleshooting issues.
• PagerDuty On-Call shift

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, Python, Terraform, Kubernetes
• Experience in defining and driving metrics for successful product releases.
• Contributions on one or more open source projects.
• Understanding of service level metrics like SLO’s, SLI’s and SLA’s and mechanisms to track and improve them.
