Senior Staff Software Engineer L6
Job Overview
We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer (L6) to provide technical leadership, architectural direction, and hands-on engineering impact across mission-critical platforms. This role will shape platform strategy, cloud modernization, identity and security architecture, and large-scale distributed systems across multiple teams and business units.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, relational databases, cloud platforms, and modern identity architectures. The role requires strong architectural judgment, the ability to influence across organizational boundaries, and a proven track record of mentoring senior engineers and driving complex technical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
Lead architecture and design reviews for highly scalable, secure, and reliable enterprise platforms.
Define and drive engineering standards, architectural principles, testing strategies, and technical governance.
Translate business and product objectives into technical strategies, roadmaps, and modernization initiatives.
Drive adoption of cloud-native, event-driven, microservices, and identity-first architectures.
Identify architectural risks and technical debt and establish pragmatic plans for long-term improvement.
Influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams and product areas.
Hands-on Engineering & System Design
Remain hands-on with critical initiatives, contributing to design, coding, reviews, and technical problem solving.
Design and evolve distributed systems capable of supporting millions of users and high-volume workloads.
Develop scalable Java/Spring Boot services and resilient microservice architectures.
Design efficient data models and optimize PostgreSQL and other relational database workloads.
Ensure reliable interoperability across APIs, services, platforms, and enterprise systems.
Apply best practices for performance, resiliency, observability, and operational readiness.
Drive performance testing, capacity planning, failure testing, and engineering improvements.
