Senior Manufacturing Engineer
This position is accountable for directing, planning, coordinating and implementing processes and methods required for premier HVAC manufacturing, and leadership of or participation in process improvement teams. This position is involved in projects to increase plant capacity, improve product quality, and improve process safety utilizing barrier removal techniques and data driven problem solving techniques such as five-step or Kepner Tregoe methods.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Leadership
- Processes and documents engineering changes and modifications.
- Works to resolve and prevent trouble-shooting production issues and equipment.
- Optimizes work station layout, equipment justification, specification and installation.
- Works with Product Design to introduce new products to UPG Operations.
- Supports and implements Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Performs data analysis to assess process capability and implement improvements
- Other duties may be assigned.
Required:
- University degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Five years’ experience in manufacturing.
- Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including e-mail, Microsoft Office software, Autodesk or equivalent CAD software, and process capability software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated decision making ability.
- Effective and professional communication and organization skills.
- Solid knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, ergonomic principles, and classic industrial engineering principles.
- Experience with fabrication processes including coils, copper and sheet metal processing.
- Strong presentation, teamwork and coaching skills and demonstrated leadership abilities
- Self-Starter – should not have to be told to go do but takes charge and ownership of whatever they are working on
- Support the factory with 80% being on the floor and 20% behind a desk.
- Capable of succeeding in a high stress/fast paced environment
- Mechanically inclined with strong trouble shooting capabilities
Preferred:
- Exposure to HVAC manufacturing or regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, automotive, medical, or defense).
- Experience with automation, robotics, CNC machining, assembly lines, and complex manufacturing systems.
- Lean Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement certification.
