Senior Computer Vision & Machine Learning Engineer (Medical Imaging)
Primary Function of Position
The Machine Learning Engineer is an integral part of the Aubonne engineering group and will work on developing products that help us invent the future of imaging-based intelligent robotic surgery. This position is primarily responsible for developing clinically relevant novel medical imaging methods for the da Vinci® platform and for preclinical test systems. The role includes data collection, modelling, development of algorithms and pipelines for new imaging modes, ML training and inference.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Understand clinical problems that can be solved by advanced and emerging imaging modalities and ML
- Develop and optimize advanced image analysis, computer vision, and machine learning algorithms and real-time image-processing pipelines for endoscopic and ex-vivo imaging systems
- Analyze data acquired with novel imaging systems
- Develop system concepts, which meet complex requirements
- Collaborate, coordinate, mentor, and lead engineers in a multidisciplinary team to develop product-ready computer vision and machine-learning solutions while meeting technical requirements and schedules
- Independently solve complex problems and share solutions
- Communicate results regularly to cross-functional audiences
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- MSc or Ph.D. in Biomedical/Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM field with an emphasis on medical image analysis and machine learning
- At least six years of experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in Python, computer vision and machine learning frameworks, and CUDA for development of real-time image-processing pipelines, computer vision, and machine-learning solutions
- Experience with hyperspectral and/or fluorescence imaging systems, including data analysis, algorithm development, and image processing
- Experience in defining metrics and datasets, performing error analysis, and training machine learning models
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written
- Highly innovative with a demonstrated track record of solving complex technical challenges in medical imaging using computer vision and machine learning
- Demonstrated success in pursuing a line of inquiry, exploring, presenting and evaluating various options, and successfully implementing solutions
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Experience with bringing machine learning and computer vision solutions from research and prototyping to production
- Experience with multimodal medical image registration
- Experience in C++
- Experience in 3D graphics, 3D modeling, 3D reconstruction, Raman spectroscopy or histopathology image analysis, or other advanced medical imaging techniques
