Job Summary The School of Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for one, full-time, tenure track, 9-month, Assistant Professor position beginning August 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse experimental psychology doctoral program in the School of Psychology. The Experimental program is one of four doctoral programs in the School of Psychology. The Experimental doctoral program offers generalist training in research-based approaches to Psychology in several different research areas. The research area of specialization for this position is open . W e are interested in candidates whose training backgrounds complement or enhance our current concentrations, i ncluding but not limited to expertise in memory, perception, social psychology, developmental psychology, and behavioral neuroscience . The Experimental Psychology doctoral program emphasizes research mentorship, diversity, and undergraduate and graduate teaching. Our faculty have established records of scholarship in the areas of memory, aging and cognition, sensation and perception, evolutionary psychology, health psychology, and social psychology. We aim to recruit applicants who will produce impactful research with the potential to secure extramural funding, and who will emphasize training doctoral students to become productive and thoughtful scientists. The School of Psychology has approximately 600 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate students across three APA-accredited doctoral programs (Counseling, Clinical, School), a doctoral program in Experimental Psychology and a MPCAC accredited Master’s program in Counseling Psychology. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the teaching mission of the School of Psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
