The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing nursing staff and operations within a specific department or unit. This role includes managing patient care, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and evaluate nursing staff, providing guidance and support to improve performance and professional development.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Coordinate patient care activities and ensure that patients receive high-quality services.
- Monitor patient care metrics and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient care delivery.
- Manage departmental budgets, including staffing, supplies, and equipment purchases.
- Conduct hiring, onboarding, and training for nursing staff.
- Create and maintain schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Address patient and family concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Stay current with advancements in nursing practices and healthcare regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing; master’s degree preferred.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
