The Prime Services horizontal team is a critical component of our engineering organization, focusing on delivering robust and high-performance solutions tailored to the unique demands of Prime Services applications. Within this structure, the non-functional team acts as a horizontal gating function, ensuring the scalability, robustness, and overall resilience of our applications through rigorous and effective testing methodologies. Context & Background

The Non-Functional Junior Testing Engineer will be an integral part of specialized engineering teams that operate under Agile delivery models, including Scrum and/or Kanban. Jira is used as the primary tool for tracking tasks, defects, and all project artifacts, providing a central source of truth for delivery. This role will involve collaborating with various delivery streams and contributing to projects that require adherence to formal reporting structures, often leveraging Jira and Confluence for documentation and progress updates.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Non-Functional Test Cases: Assist in the execution of various non-functional test cases, including performance, load, stress, scalability and chaos engineering tests, under the guidance of senior engineers.

• Support Test Environment Setup: Contribute to the setup, configuration, and maintenance of test environments, ensuring they are ready for non-functional testing activities.

• Data Collection & Analysis: Collect test execution data and assist in basic analysis of test results, identifying potential performance bottlenecks or issues.

• Documentation Support: Support the creation and maintenance of test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and defect reports in relevant tools.

• Jira and Confluence Usage: Utilize Jira for tracking testing tasks, defects, and progress, and Confluence for accessing and contributing to project documentation.

• Incident Reporting: Accurately report observed defects and issues to senior team members, providing clear and concise details.

• Collaboration: Actively collaborate with development, functional testing, and operations teams to understand application architecture and testing requirements.

• Learning & Development: Actively participate in training and knowledge-sharing sessions to develop expertise in non-functional testing tools, methodologies, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or 0-2 years of relevant experience in software quality assurance or testing.

• Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).

• Exposure to or basic understanding of non-functional testing concepts (e.g., performance, load, stress testing).

• Basic proficiency in using project management tools such as Jira and documentation platforms like Confluence.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior internship or project experience in a software testing or engineering role.

• Exposure to automated testing frameworks or tools.

• Basic understanding of cloud platforms or containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Understanding basic database concepts and SQL.

Tools & Technologies

• Test Management Tools: Jira (basic usage for task and defect tracking)

• Documentation: Confluence (basic usage for accessing and contributing to documentation)

• Operating Systems: Linux/Unix command-line proficiency (basic)

• Scripting: Basic understanding of scripting languages for test automation support.

• Version Control: Familiarity with Git (basic commands).

Reporting & Governance Expectations

The Junior Non-Functional Testing Engineer will report directly to a Senior Non-Functional Testing Engineer or Team Lead. Performance and task progress will be regularly reviewed, and adherence to established engineering standards and guidelines is expected. The role will contribute to team activities and reporting as directed by senior team members within the overall project governance framework.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$95,770.00 - $133,630.00
