Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Bias)

Lir Chocolates, Navan, County Meath, Ireland

No weekend working, four day week and excellent shift premium.

We’re on the lookout for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Bias) to join our team and help keep our chocolate production running smoothly.

Position type: Full time, permanent

Hours: 40 per week over 4 days Monday - Friday

Pay range: Grade 2 - €25.20 - €26.93 per hour + shift premium (Hours worked before 12 am (Between 16:30 to 11:59 only) will be paid at a premium of 12.5% and hours worked after 12 am (between 00:00 to 03:00 only) will be paid at a premium of 25%.)

Shift Pattern: 3 week cycle rotating between the following weeks:

  • Monday - Thursday 0600 - 1630
  • Tuesday - Friday 0600-1630
  • Monday - Thursday 1630-0300

Closing Date: 02/09/2026

Responsibilities

  • Swiftly troubleshoot and repair equipment.

  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance.
  • Use data to drive improvement initiatives and enhance efficiency.

  • Minimise downtime by responding quickly to breakdowns.

  • Collaborate with teams across the factory to plan maintenance and improve processes.

  • Operation of Engineering Stores to ensure spares requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • Recognised mechanical trade qualification or a Higher Certificate (NFQ Level 6) / Ordinary Degree (NFQ Level 7) in Mechanical Engineering, with an good understanding of electrical maintenance.
  • Experience with food manufacturing machinery such as conveyors, depositors, and wrapping machines.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach.
  • Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is an advantage.
  • Experience managing mechanical projects, and providing coaching to peers.

Lir Chocolates produces a broad range of speciality chocolates under the Lir brand, as well as for major retail customers and other famous chocolate brands, all from our factory in Navan. We have three advanced production lines across two buildings, specialising in high-precision chocolate technologies such as panning, one-shot depositing, spinning, spraying, and decorative transfers. Our factory environment combines automated systems with artisan hand-finishing, creating unique packaging formats that add complexity and challenge to line design and maintenance. Our skilled Maintenance Technicians play a critical role in optimising equipment performance, managing seasonal peaks, and driving continuous improvement to deliver world-class products on time.
