Junior ADAS Validation Engineer

The client is seeking a qualified Vehicle Validation Test Engineer to support the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Validation team at the Chelsea Proving Ground (CPG) facility.
The Vehicle Validation Engineer will be responsible for executing vehicle-level test procedures to validate ADAS performance on client vehicles and competitive benchmark vehicles. The role involves hands-on vehicle testing, data collection, instrumentation, troubleshooting, and analysis of test results.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute vehicle-level test procedures to validate ADAS features and system performance.
- Support testing on client vehicles as well as competitive benchmark vehicles.
- Drive test vehicles and perform hands-on testing at proving ground facilities.
- Collect, process, and analyze vehicle and ADAS test data.
- Install and operate vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Support vehicle electrical troubleshooting, including connecting diagnostic tools, clearing faults, resetting modules, and flashing ECUs.
- Work with CAN communication systems and diagnostic tools to monitor and troubleshoot vehicle systems.
- Compile test results and documentation and communicate findings to engineering teams.
- Support ground-truth instrumentation, cameras, dGPS systems, and other vehicle testing equipment.
- Work closely with mechanics, technicians, and engineering teams to prepare vehicles and execute testing.
- Support both 1st and 2nd shift operations as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team environment.
- Hands-on experience working with vehicles and automotive testing equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability and willingness to obtain required heavy-truck certifications, such as a CDL.
- Experience installing and removing vehicle instrumentation and camouflage.
- Working knowledge of vehicle EE architecture and CAN communication.
- Experience using automotive diagnostic tools.
- Experience with vehicle electrical troubleshooting, including connecting diagnostic equipment, clearing faults, resetting modules, and flashing vehicle modules.
- Familiarity with ADAS features from a driver/customer perspective.
- Experience with data acquisition systems, including analog and digital data logging, filtering, and data processing.
- Experience with post-processing and engineering tools such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar software.
- Ability to support 1st and 2nd shift schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in ADAS, vehicle validation, automotive testing, or automotive engineering.
- Working-level experience with vehicle CAN systems using CANalyzer, CANoe, or similar CAN tools.
- Previous vehicle testing and validation experience.
- Experience completing DVP&R and following detailed vehicle test procedures.
- Experience with ground-truth instrumentation, cameras, dGPS systems, and other vehicle data acquisition equipment.
- Previous experience working at automotive proving grounds or test facilities.
- Experience working closely with mechanics and automotive technicians.
- Basic understanding of statistical analysis and data interpretation.
- Experience developing or writing test procedures and DVP&Rs.
- Trailer towing experience.
- Familiarity with ADAS features such as AEB, ACC, LKA, lane centering, blind-spot detection, and other driver assistance systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
