Infrastructure Support - SMPES

Overview

Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for an Infrastructure Engineer-SMPES to support cutting-edge research, development, and technical analysis efforts for US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM)/J56 and the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Enterprise Center (NEC).

This position helps to ensure up-to-date and accurate infrastructure systems (hardware and software) are delivered to customers in a timely fashion. Developing strategies, plans, and procedures that ensure seamless integration of SMPES capabilities into the C2F as well as other SMPES sites. It drives SMPES automation with the goal of achieving continuously synchronized systems that fully support continuous Nuclear Operations Control Center, J3, and J53 operations. The team develops, documents, maintains, and shares repeatable and testable processes and uses statistical process control (SPC) to measure effectiveness and improve processes.

This is a full-time position located at Offutt AFB, NE

Responsibilities

• Engineer and maintain enterprise virtualization solutions (VMware vSphere/ESXi) to ensure 24/7 system reliability across 20 SMPES/ RECAP system strings and 250+ legacy systems.
• Design, develop, and maintain 25+ production vRealize Aria Operations and Aria Logs dashboards providing real-time visibility into system health, performance, replication, and backup status.
• Lead incident response and outage coordination for all unplanned outages affecting SMPES infrastructure.
• Serve as the primary technical POC for infrastructure-related issues, working directly with J5, J6 Cyber, and AFNWC teams.
• Author system requirements, provide feedback on Change Requests (CRQs), and support the system development lifecycle.
• Perform monthly VDI testing and Office compatibility assessments.
• Actively participate in J6/AFNWC DevSecOps Cross-Functional Teams and strategic planning efforts.
• Maintain the program Risk Registry and ensure compliance with USSTRATCOM cyber and STIG requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a TS/SCI level clearance

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Years of Experience: 12 or more years of relevant experience, including 5 years of DoD experience
