- Improve the accuracy and scalability of VAT processes by partnering with Product and Engineering to enhance tax determination, reporting, and data integrity.
- Translate complex VAT regulations into system logic and business requirements that support platform and tax engine enhancements.
- Lead VAT compliance activities, including filings, coordination with shared services and advisors, and ongoing process improvements.
- Manage VAT audits and tax authority interactions, developing approaches that support timely and effective resolution.
- Monitor legislative developments and implement required changes across systems and business processes.
- Provide clear VAT guidance and training to cross-functional teams, supporting business initiatives, expansion, and governance frameworks.
What you will bring:
- 7–8 years of indirect tax experience focused on VAT within EMEA, with knowledge of EU and UK VAT rules, cross-border trade, and digital compliance requirements.
- Experience applying VAT expertise in technology environments, including tax engines, ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, and automation tools; experience with data analytics or AI-enabled tools is beneficial.
- Experience translating regulatory requirements into operational processes or system solutions, alongside analytical and research skills to assess legislative changes and business impact.
- Experience managing VAT audits and engaging with tax authorities, gained within public accounting and/or a multinational organisation.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including experience working with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams and explaining complex VAT topics to diverse audiences.
- A degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Information Systems, or a related field; a professional qualification is preferred. Fluency in English is required, with additional European languages beneficial.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model from eBay’s Dublin office and collaborate effectively across time zones.
