HVAC Technician V

Amentum is seeking a HVAC Technician V to join our Central Support Travel Team!

• • Hours may vary based on business demand.
  • Weekend hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation.

The HVAC Technician V is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the facility mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment and systems.

Responsibilities:

• • Strong mechanical skills
  • Ability to work safely with 3-phase power up to and including 480V.
  • Perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures
  • Works under the direction of a task-responsible professional.
  • Prepares/completes assigned tasks in conformance with applicable procedure requirements provided by the task supervisor.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair industrial facility mechanical systems; facility HVAC equipment and systems; pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems;
  • Must be familiar with and have experience troubleshooting and repairing boilers, chillers, air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and all HVAC related valves, controls, and systems.
  • Must be familiar with BAS and BMS systems, such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, and Schneider Electric.
  • Must be familiar with and able to troubleshoot and repair all types of refrigerant and refrigeration systems, including and licensed to perform refrigerant application and reclaiming.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repairs blowers and fans.
  • Troubleshoot and repairs heat exchange equipment.
  • Perform basic pipefitting repairs.
  • Coordinates work with others in discipline group and other discipline groups on the project.
  • Responsible for neatness and accuracy of work.
  • May perform lab work, equipment set-up, testing and repair, quantity take-off, data entry and/or model construction utilizing prescribed techniques.
  • Under limited direction, may work in a lead position of complex technical work utilizing a wide variety of resources, including computers and under limited supervision.
  • May train other technicians.
  • May prepare formal reports on experiments, tests, and other projects.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to less experienced personnel.
  • Responsible for travelling to client sites to support Amentum site operations teams
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities, schedules and budgets
  • Work independently as part of an integrated team and display high self-motivation and integrity.
  • Have the ability to maintain an exceptional level of organization and time management skills
  • Must have good work ethics and be available on nights and weekends as required to accommodate operational needs.
  • Experience using a variety of office software, including: MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Excel, MS Share Point, and MS outlook

Minimum Requirements:

• • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 6 years experience

  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements:

• • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
  • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
  • Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
  • Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
  • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
    

Work Environment:

• This position requires 80% travel , working from multiple Amentum office spaces and client site locations to also include remote office locations.
• Travel can be 1 to 2 week intervals, planned, sequenced, or back to back
• Travel and support needs as well as client locations can vary significantly with planning and notifications being limited at times based on customer and operational priorities
• All work related travel expenses are re-imbursed by the company
• Weekend work and overtime related to travel work is common.

Special Requirements:

• • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Other Attributes:

• • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.

Compensation Details:

$40-$50/hr
