The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for the overall management and operation of the Hotel Housekeeping Department. The position ensures that guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and other hotel facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, presentation, safety, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Housekeeping Operations

  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily housekeeping operations.

  • Ensure guest rooms and public areas meet established cleanliness and presentation standards.

  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, corridors, public areas, back-of-house areas, and housekeeping facilities.

  • Ensure rooms are prepared and released according to hotel standards and operational requirements.

  • Coordinate with Front Office regarding room status, arrivals, departures, VIP guests, room moves, and special requests.

  • Establish and maintain effective cleaning procedures, checklists, and quality standards.

  • Ensure proper handling of lost and found items.

2. Team Leadership & Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop housekeeping employees.

  • Prepare staff schedules, assignments, and daily work plans according to occupancy and business needs.

  • Conduct daily briefings and communicate operational priorities to the team.

  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, grooming, and discipline.

  • Provide regular performance feedback and recommend training or development programs.

  • Maintain a positive, professional, and service-oriented working environment.

3. Quality & Guest Satisfaction

  • Maintain consistent hotel cleanliness and housekeeping standards.

  • Respond promptly to guest complaints and special requests related to housekeeping.

  • Follow up on guest feedback and implement corrective actions where required.

  • Work closely with other departments to resolve guest and operational issues.

  • Support the hotel's guest satisfaction and service quality objectives.

4. Inventory & Cost Control

  • Monitor housekeeping supplies, linen, uniforms, guest amenities, chemicals, and operating equipment.

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and establish par-stock requirements.

  • Control departmental expenses and minimize unnecessary consumption and wastage.

  • Conduct regular inventory and linen counts.

  • Monitor the condition and usage of housekeeping equipment and arrange repairs or replacement when necessary.

  • Work with Purchasing and Finance to manage departmental procurement and budgets.

5. Hygiene, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with hotel hygiene, sanitation, health, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored, labeled, and used correctly.

  • Conduct regular checks of housekeeping equipment and work areas.

  • Ensure employees follow proper occupational health and safety procedures.

  • Implement appropriate procedures for emergencies, accidents, and hazardous situations.

6. Administration & Reporting

  • Prepare housekeeping departmental reports, schedules, forecasts, and budgets.

  • Monitor occupancy-related staffing requirements and productivity.

  • Maintain accurate records for inventory, linen, uniforms, equipment, maintenance issues, and lost and found.

  • Participate in management meetings and communicate departmental performance and challenges.

  • Develop and update housekeeping SOPs and operational procedures.

7. Interdepartmental Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with Front Office, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Security, Human Resources, and other departments.

  • Communicate room maintenance issues to Engineering and follow up until completion.

  • Support hotel events, VIP arrivals, group arrivals, and special functions.

  • Participate in hotel-wide projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

  • Guest satisfaction and housekeeping-related guest feedback

  • Guest room cleanliness scores

  • Public area cleanliness standards

  • Room turnaround and readiness

  • Housekeeping productivity

  • Departmental budget and cost control

  • Linen and amenity consumption

  • Staff attendance and turnover

  • Training completion and employee performance

  • Compliance with hygiene, safety, and hotel SOPs

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of housekeeping experience in a supervisory or managerial position in a hotel.

  • Experience in a full-service, upscale, luxury, or international hotel environment is an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations, cleaning standards, linen management, inventory control, and hotel hygiene practices.

  • Good leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or hotel property management systems.

  • Good command of English; additional languages are an advantage.
