Data Analyst

Overview

Cummings Electrical is hiring a Data Analyst for our Business Improvement Solutions (BIS) Team.

Currently seeking a Data Analyst to support the Business Improvement Solutions Team by turning data into clear, useful information that helps Cummings Electrical make better decisions and improve how work gets done.

This role will work with departments across the company to understand business needs, analyze information, develop dashboards and reporting, and identify trends and opportunities for improvement. The Data Analyst will take ownership of assigned analytics work and help make company data easier to understand, trust, and use.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Collect, clean, organize, and analyze data from different business systems and sources.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, scorecards, and data visualizations.
• Work with departments to understand their business questions, reporting needs, and performance measures.
• Analyze data to identify trends, issues, opportunities, and potential root causes.
• Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Support Continuous Improvement efforts by establishing baselines and measuring results.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate reporting and data processes.
• Help improve data quality and reporting consistency.
• Document data sources, calculations, business rules, and reporting processes.
• Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to BIS Team Members, business leaders, and other stakeholders.
• Take ownership of analytics assignments from initial request through completed solution.
• Explore new tools and approaches that can improve how Cummings Electrical uses data.
• Bring an innovation mindset by asking questions, challenging assumptions, and looking for better ways to use data.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may also be considered.
• Typically 2–5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or a related field.
• Experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or a similar tool.
• Working knowledge of SQL and experience working with data from multiple sources.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to clean, organize, validate, and analyze data.
• Ability to identify trends and turn data into meaningful business insights.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate work.
• Ability to clearly communicate data and findings to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow work through completion.

Preferred

• Experience with Power BI, including Power Query, DAX, or data modeling.
• Experience with Python, Power Automate, or other analytics and automation tools.
• Experience developing or tracking KPIs.
• Understanding of data quality and data governance concepts.
• Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean, process mapping, or similar improvement methods.
• Experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, operations, or another project-based environment is helpful but not required.
