Business Development Manager - Data Center

This role drives new business development and strategic growth across the North American data center and critical power market.
You will identify and qualify prospective customers, build strong executive relationships, and develop opportunities from initial engagement through contract negotiation and close.
The position combines market intelligence, account strategy, pipeline development, and consultative solution selling across complex customer environments.
You will work closely with regional leaders, business development teams, account managers, and delivery organizations to align customer needs with technical and commercial capabilities.
Success requires a strong understanding of data center infrastructure, customer strategies, financial performance, and evolving market and technology needs.
You will have significant ownership of your pipeline, bookings targets, account plans, proposals, and business development initiatives.

Accountabilities:
- Qualify new customers, generate new business opportunities, and build a sustainable pipeline aligned with business unit growth strategies.
- Use customer intelligence, market research, competitive insights, and account information to identify opportunities for sales growth and deeper customer penetration.
- Develop and execute account strategies designed to position solutions effectively and convert opportunities into long-term business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, including understanding their organizational structures, products, market positions, sourcing strategies, suppliers, manufacturing locations, and future plans.
- Create and manage a personal pipeline while maintaining accountability for assigned booking and business development targets.
- Develop proactive customer solutions and proposals that address business challenges, differentiate available capabilities, and support customer growth objectives.
- Work alongside Regional Vice Presidents and Business Development teams to develop strategies that address customer requirements and promote relevant value propositions.
- Lead account planning, proposal development, quoting intelligence, customer meetings, contract negotiations, and the associated approval process.
- Establish effective communication with account management and execution teams to ensure customer expectations and contractual obligations are clearly understood and delivered.
- Research customer business strategies, future product plans, expansion activities, and sourcing requirements to identify new opportunities.
- Define business priorities based on market trends, technology developments, and customer needs, initiating activities that strengthen market penetration.
- Present, sell, and support the delivery of end-to-end solutions spanning concept development, design and engineering, industrial design, manufacturing, supply chain and logistics, services, and reverse logistics.
- Evaluate the strategic fit between customer requirements and available capabilities while maintaining alignment with broader business growth objectives.
- Negotiate commercial agreements and service arrangements while supporting successful contract execution.
- Collaborate with internal teams and executive leadership to maximize mutual value for customers and the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Minimum of 6 years of related professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Data Center or Critical Power business development, with a focus on strategic data center growth across North America.
- Proven ability to develop new business, manage pipelines, penetrate strategic accounts, and achieve measurable bookings or sales targets.
- Strong understanding of customer organizations, market dynamics, competitive environments, sourcing strategies, and technology trends within the data center sector.
- Ability to work effectively with internal teams, executive management, and external customers to develop mutually beneficial business opportunities.
- Strong understanding of financial metrics, including the ability to interpret P&L statements, balance sheets, ROI indicators, and other commercial performance measures.
- Ability to connect customer requirements with technical, operational, and commercial solutions.
- Strong account planning, proposal development, negotiation, relationship management, and business development capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to identify long-term market and technology opportunities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain pipeline discipline, and execute business development activities in a results-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated functional expertise and a broad understanding of related business functions and their interdependencies.
- Ability to travel as required to support customers, business development activities, and strategic accounts.

- Annual base salary range of $136,400–$187,600 USD, with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, education, market data, and internal equity.
