Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bindery Manager to oversee daily finishing operations within a commercial printing facility. This position combines team leadership with practical production knowledge to ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate understands bindery equipment, can troubleshoot production challenges, and enjoys developing a dependable team.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate bindery production based on job requirements, equipment availability, staffing, and deadlines.

• Supervise, train, and support bindery operators and production employees.

• Review job tickets and communicate setup instructions, quality standards, and production priorities.

• Assist with equipment setups, adjustments, and troubleshooting.

• Monitor finished products for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with customer specifications.

• Track department output, waste, downtime, and labor utilization.

• Coordinate equipment maintenance and communicate repair needs.

• Work with the pressroom, mailroom, and shipping teams to keep jobs moving through production.

• Maintain safe work practices and an organized department.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial printing, bindery, or print finishing.

• Previous experience supervising employees or leading a production team.

• Practical knowledge of bindery equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting.

• Ability to interpret job specifications and manage competing deadlines.

• Strong mechanical aptitude, communication skills, and attention to detail.

• Ability to coach employees, resolve production issues, and improve department efficiency.

• Comfort using computers for scheduling and production reporting.
