The over-indexing of electricity generation from renewable energy sources leads to large volatility on the energy grid. The main problem is that wind and solar farms are fluctuating and, by definition, unsteady—there is no sun at night, and it is not always windy. This increases the need for flexibility in the form of battery storage systems to balance the grid in times when supply and demand do not match.
By buying and developing grid-scale storage assets and virtually aggregating them across a layer, we are creating the world's first energy cloud. Imagine AWS for energy. As part of our Project Delivery team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of our projects from Ready to Build to Commercial Operation, with smooth delivery to Asset Management. Your experience in project engineering in the environment of construction within the renewable energy or energy infrastructure sector will allow the BESS projects we build to meet the highest quality standards. Your technical expertise allows you to challenge the "usual practice" and to proactively find disruptive approaches to optimise project processes and quality. In addition you will support the project manager on optimisation of execution timelines and costs. You will join our team at an early stage of the company life, with the opportunity to participate in shaping our BESS fleet expansion strategy.

- Support the project development team
- Be the go-to person for technical questions during project development
- Review BESS project documentation produced by internal and external project developers to evaluate technical project viability
- Be an active member in the tendering and offer benchmarking team
- Preparing and sharing project dataroom with relevant stakeholders
- Review technical offers from our contractors and manage technical Q&A
- Benchmarking technical offers against competing offers and industry state-of-the-art
- Contracting
- Ensure that scope of work is aligned with expectations
- Review technical procedures
- Review project warranties, datasheets and certificates
- Execution
- Manage technical risks in a team with a BESS project manager
- Site presence during key project phases (project kick-off, equipment delivery, SAT) to ensure highest safety and quality standards
- Weekly follow-up meetings with contractors
- Documentation follow-up, including quality and progress checks, aligned with the Owner’s Engineer
- Review test reports (FAT, cold commissioning, energisation, hot commissioning, SAT)
- Actively follow commissioning until project acceptance
- Define a project punch list upon project acceptance, and follow up its closure for project completion
- Handover project to the Asset Management team
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or in an energy-related field
- Experience: At least 3 years working in construction projects in the energy sector, preferably in the construction of BESS
- Technical expertise: Good knowledge about electrical systems and BESS technologies
- Soft skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Staying highly professional and pragmatic even in tense situations
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Problem-solving skills: Demonstrated ability to analyse and solve complex technical problems efficiently
- Self-directed: Ability to make decisions, set priorities and work independently based on high-level targets of the business and team.
