The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in leading the day-to-day operation of the Blenheim store. This role is responsible for driving sales performance, delivering exceptional customer service, developing team capability, maintaining operational standards, and ensuring a safe and productive working environment. The ASM acts as a role model for the team and assumes responsibility for the store in the Store Manager's absence.

Sales & Performance

  • Support the delivery of store sales, conversion, ATV, IPC, and add-on targets.

  • Analyse store performance and identify opportunities to improve results.

  • Lead by example on the sales floor through proactive customer engagement.

  • Drive promotional activity execution and seasonal campaign implementation.

  • Ensure the team consistently maximises every customer interaction.

Customer Experience

  • Deliver an outstanding customer experience that reflects Mountain Warehouse values.

  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Coach team members on effective selling techniques and customer service standards.

  • Ensure the store remains welcoming, organised, and customer-focused at all times.

Leadership & People Development

  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.

  • Provide regular coaching and feedback to support team development.

  • Motivate and inspire the team to achieve both individual and store objectives.

  • Support performance management processes where required.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.

Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure all operational procedures are followed accurately and consistently.

  • Support stock control processes, stocktakes, and inventory management.

  • Oversee visual merchandising standards and store presentation.

  • Ensure cash handling and banking procedures are completed correctly.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, health and safety requirements, and employment legislation.

Health & Safety

  • Promote a strong safety culture within the store.

  • Ensure hazards are identified, reported, and addressed promptly.

  • Support workplace injury prevention and Return to Work processes where applicable.

  • Maintain a safe environment for customers and team members.




Essential

  • Previous retail leadership experience at Supervisor, Key Holder, or Assistant Store Manager level.
  • Proven ability to drive sales and achieve targets.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and coaching abilities.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Desirable

  • Experience within outdoor, apparel, or specialty retail.
  • Experience with roster management and labour productivity.
  • Understanding of retail KPI reporting and analysis.
