The Graduate School of Business (GSB) at Nazarbayev University invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2027. The primary field is international finance and macroeconomics — international finance, international macroeconomics, macro-finance, exchange rates and capital flows, sovereign debt, monetary policy, and financial markets in emerging economies — and we welcome candidates with a PhD in either economics or finance.

We also welcome applications from strong candidates in other fields of economics and finance. In particular, economics PhDs working on marketing-relevant questions (empirical and structural IO, pricing, platforms and digital markets, advertising, applications of machine learning) may be considered for the school's quantitative-marketing position, and those in applied microeconomics, organizational economics, or the economics of innovation for its strategy, entrepreneurship, and innovation position. Please state your field(s) of interest in the cover letter.

Qualifications. PhD in economics, finance, or a related field, in hand or near completion by the start date; a strong job-market paper and a research program aimed at leading journals; the ability to teach in English at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
