About your role:

Cyber threats move fast – your models will move faster. As an AI Engineer on our Cyber Engineering team, you'll apply advanced machine learning and statistical techniques to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats across an enterprise that processes millions of transactions a day. This isn't a theoretical data science role: you'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with cybersecurity engineers, threat analysts, and infrastructure teams to turn massive, messy security telemetry into models and insights that directly protect client data and critical systems. If you want your machine learning work to have immediate, high-stakes, real-world impact on a global fintech's security posture, this is where that happens.

What you’ll do:

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning and statistical models for threat detection, anomaly detection, fraud identification, and risk scoring using security event and telemetry data.

• Engineer robust security data pipelines, including data ingestion, cleansing, feature engineering, and model monitoring, using structured and unstructured cyber data sources (e.g., logs, alerts, network flows, endpoint data).

• Analyze outputs from security tools and platforms to identify control gaps, policy deviations, and emerging threat patterns, and translate findings into prioritized remediation recommendations.

• Partner with cybersecurity engineering, Security Operations Center (SOC), and infrastructure teams to embed AI and advanced analytics into security controls, playbooks, and incident response workflows.

• Conduct model performance evaluations, bias and drift analysis, and continuous tuning to improve detection efficacy while minimizing false positives.

• Develop clear, consumable visualizations and storytelling artifacts that communicate complex analytic findings and risk scenarios to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Create and maintain documentation for data sources, model architectures, assumptions, validation approaches, and deployment processes in line with internal governance standards.

Experience you’ll need to have:

• 6+ years of experience in data science or machine learning using programming languages such as Python or R to build and deploy models in production environments, preferably in cybersecurity, fraud, or risk domains.

• 4+ years of experience working with security-relevant datasets and tools (for example, Security Information and Event Management platforms, endpoint protection, identity and access data, or network telemetry) in an enterprise environment.

• Strong understanding of statistical modeling, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques, including handling class imbalance common in threat and fraud detection use cases.

• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines that ingest, transform, and operationalize large-scale structured and unstructured data.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional/military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

• Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry.

• Hands-on exposure to generative AI, large language models (LLMs), or agentic AI frameworks applied to cybersecurity use cases.

• Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR platforms, MITRE ATT&CK, or threat intelligence frameworks.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, GIAC, or data science/ML-specific credentials).

• Experience mentoring junior data scientists or engineers on model development best practices.

How you’ll work:

This role is on-site Monday through Friday and can be based at our Columbus, OH cybersecurity tech hub, or our Alpharetta, GA or Berkeley Heights, NJ offices. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration essential to onboarding, mentorship, and stronger productivity, especially given how closely this role partners with SOC and infrastructure teams.

Travel:

Minimal travel is expected for this role.

Salary Range

$109,000.00 - $182,400.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
