Admitting Officer I - UI Health, Revenue Cycle

Serves as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, billing departments, and insurers, if applicable; contacts patients to explain healthcare benefits and healthcare facility policies; enters, updates, reviews, and verifies patient health information within an electronic health record (EHR) system for admission and/or outpatient services at a healthcare facility; verifies insurance coverage, determines eligibility and estimates financial liability for admission and/or outpatient services at a healthcare facility; collects patient cost-sharing where applicable; contacts insurance providers to obtain pre-authorizations for applicable health procedures; coordinates with insurance providers to obtain authorization(s) for applicable health procedures Duties Responsibilities: Determines if patient is eligible for intended care at UI Health. Secures patient authorizations and financial clearance in the pre-access workflows. Maintains applicable assigned workqueues and expected lead times. Stays up to date as policies and necessary documentation and payer requirements change. Maintains competence and technical knowledge. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
