【Research Activities】・Research and development on the fundamentals and applications of deep representation learning.
The Matsuo Laboratory is extensively engaged in research and development to realize smarter machines and to elucidate the principles of intelligence, with a focus on world models.
As a specially appointed researcher/assistant professor/lecturer, you will be responsible for building fundamental methodologies for modeling the external world, or for promoting research in the areas of natural language processing and robotics.
Examples of research themes are listed below, but we are looking for a wide range of people who share the concept of world modeling and can proactively set up their own themes.
Example:
・Deep generative models (VAE, GAN, Flow, diffusion models, etc.)
・Self-supervised learning
・Construction of large-scale models
・Fundamental research on deep learning (lottery hypothesis, network architecture exploration, etc.)
・Reinforcement learning and robotics (especially simulator-based policy acquisition and real-world transitions)
・Image recognition technology related to automatic driving (especially video recognition, video prediction, etc.)
・Natural language processing and semantic understanding (especially research on recent advances such as Transformer, utilization of multimodal data, etc.)
【Other duties】
∙ Research and development (submitting results to international conferences is encouraged)
・Management of projects related to your research area, including students
・Collaborative research projects with companies
・ Several lectures per year (to be arranged in accordance with your interests)

※Management experience is not required, but management of students may be required as part of the job.
