1409_Systems Engineer, Continuous Safety Assurance

At TIER IV, we build self-driving solutions for many operational domains covering a broad range of applications. The safety of autonomous driving is not something argued once at release and then forgotten. As ODDs expand, software is continuously updated, and operational track records accumulate, the safety case — the argument that "this system is safe enough, now" — must be continuously maintained and updated based on real operational data.

As a Systems Engineer for Continuous Safety Assurance, you will define the data and metrics needed to sustain this continuous safety argument, and work with our software and data engineers to turn those definitions into working data pipelines.

Key responsibilities:
- Working backwards from the structure of the safety case, define the data and metrics (Safety Performance Indicators and other leading/lagging indicators) required as evidence
- Specify data requirements for each metric: computation logic, required on-vehicle and cloud data sources, aggregation granularity, thresholds and alert conditions
- Collaborate with data platform, on-vehicle software, and operations teams to drive the design and implementation of data pipelines (collection, transformation, aggregation, visualization)
- Design triage and analysis workflows for field events (interventions, near-misses, system anomalies) and automate repeated manual analysis (classifiers, triage-support tooling)
- Build dashboards and reporting on collected metrics, ready to support safety communication to the safety team, management, customers, and regulators
- Validate metrics (data quality, accuracy and reliability of computed results) and operate the cycle of updating and improving the safety case based on operational results and analysis
